New, Dutch Ocean Fresheeeeee

The warm and beautiful surprises carp fishing has for us.

The season was almost over and fall was on its way. Thats what we carp anglers come to expect. But this year we had one hot late summer in the month of September and my world of carp fishing became a new delite full of magnificent memories that I’ll never to forget, thanks to Ocean Fresh.

September was my last chance of getting into the large resident of carp on my waters and all my seasons hard work fell in this gloryful month. On the first day of the month, I wanted to take a look at the water to choose my swim in which I was to fish from. I believe this is one of the most important points of success.

Though I was eager to start fshing I first wanted to get a clearer understanding of the lakes bottom and find an avantage point to fish to. So each swim I came to I cast out m marker rod and search for a hard bottom. On my thrid swim chice and second cast searching the depths I found a beautiful platow which was flat and lay sleepless in the route of the carp so I pictured. Decided this was a good place to fish from and gave this spot to my left hand fishing rod. I wanted to search futher up the lake to my right but in the next swim ahead was an old match angler and rather disturb him and his swim I decided to cast my left rod onto the platow with an 18mm whole oily crab and half boilie on the hair and a PVA stringer of three halfs. Not knowing what I was fishing on I just positioned the right hand rod out far into the lake out of the way. After about 30 minutes I get a strong take from the left hand rod and land a hog of a common weighing 13kg UK 28.2lb

What a surprise and I had all intentions not to fish but after find sch a nice spot so quickly I was able to get in to the carp before the time was finished. That gave me the confidence this was the swim I would fish from. From no expectations I receive a great prize all down to some simple investigation work trying to find a suitable feature to fish to.

The next day I was down early to mark my spot and to find another feature for the right hand rod. After a hour, I had found something ideal. It was certainly another route for the carps which tunneled them down into a small channel which certainly must of held the carp away from danger of the clear water which you could easily see the bottom from the margin edge. This spot was only about 3 metres out from the bank and I strongly believed was the route the carp take to move around the lake close to the margins with out being seen.

With my two spots found it was now time to apply the bait. My approach was with the use of a bait dropper to feed these beautiful spots I loaded it full each time with particles and Oily Crab boilies which would create a good spread for the carp to feed on and would allow more than one fish to feed at a time.

This water tends to be an late afternoon, evening action place, so I  prepared myself well with my own food and supplies ready for the night and had confidence my Delkins would howl. This time round it was my right hand rod to get into the action. The same one and half boilie combination on the hair and I landed another two mighty carp from this perfect found swim with in half a hour of each other. The first one came close to 10.00pm and was a big Mirror of 18kg 39.6lb and to my amasement the next one came at 10.28pm only 15 minutes later from repositioning that rod back on the spot. The second carp was even bigger! This time a Leather Mirror of 20.2kg 44.4lb My first 40 of this water in just two days fishing with Oily Crab and this was just the begining.

In the early hours of the morning my left rod is in the action again and after long fight another carp is laying on my mat. Immediately after the weighing. I  take this beautiful fish in my arm and feel that wonderful feeling again.  I started breakig my boilies in two and fishing them back to front in an attemp to make it diffclt for the bream. I think its hard for the bream to get both bits into there mouths and have confidence my bait will stay there until the carp will arrive. Another reason its different to what the carp always find. This Mirror weighed 15.4kg 33.8lb thus my first all night session had ended with three great carp and the pack up and return homeward journey was with a big smile and knowledge to return and catch more giant carp from this perfect both rod action swim.

The next late afternoon I was back again applying another ½ kilo of Crab boilies to each spot. The honored friend who took the photographs of the Mirrors that I caught the evening before arrived and stayed for a while. He was also amazed with the high tempratures and success from this magic bait, but he didnt know how carefully I picked the bait for this swim. As we talked my left rod starting jumping and my Delkin howled into the night, I was in again. It was an amusing drill and and I was starting to sweat with the warm temprature. Finally the carp was landed and went 29.5lb on my scales. A smaller scrappy fish, but welcome.

I thanked him for his help and he said to he might return later in the evening to take more photos of carp caught in the night.  He just disappeared around the corner of the woods when my the left delkim started to squeak once more and I quickly shouted and he returned at speed.  This drill was much more slower and with a good eye I could see a more beautiful specimen of carp.  Another 15kg + carp was in my net.  Again a mirror on the same method of the boilie and half. He helped me with the weighing and photos before finally going off and not to return that night again.

That evening I took two smaller fish of 11kg and a 10.7kg but had no help with photos I just slipped them back into the water with reflection of the big carp caught earlier.  The next day looked like a beautiful fish day and just as I admired the sky I get a slow run on my right hand rod. It seemed to be a solid lump just wanting to sit out in the lake and as hard as I tried to get it close in the fish kempt bolting away taking line which there was little I could do but wait. Eventually the fish became tired and now a couple of other anglers were now at myside With there help we netted and weighed the carp. It was massive and to all our amazement it turned the scales round to 24.2kg 53.2lb of Mirror carp my personal best carp on Oily Crab boilies now my confidence had sky rocketed.

After a hour or 2 nothing more happened the water was still and I sat there quietly not wanted to disturb anything when I came a rattling on my left hand rod. I picked up the rod and there was a sturdy drill. I thougtht of it being a smaller fish, but it was more heavy when pulling the fish out of the water. The Common weighed 16.8kg 36.9lb and I was back into the action once more.

The common scales glittered in the evening light on the mat.  After immediately putting back the fish I rebaited my left fishing rod area. This time I put half kilo particles with ten broken Oily Crab boilies and a few complete.  Yet another hour later and it was Bingo again! The next carp to lay on my mat was another super long common of 37.9lb

After that fish I wanted to bait up again, but I saw another carp angler looking closely at me. Not to give away my hot spot positions I chose to sit on my rods until the lake was quiet again. Later when the angler in question had lefted I rebaited but that late afternoon I could only manage two smaller fish of 9kg and 8kg the smallest ones of the enitre campagn.

At around 8pm I left the water deciding it was time to give the swim some unpressured rest. I rebaited heavily with particles and another kilo of Oily Crab boilies and made my way to home with srong confidence that already I had done better this last three days than the whole season. It was now time to relax a little and get happily drunk on a good result. The next day I went to the Common lake of mine where so far this year the best fish has been a common of 38.5lb I found the favorite swim that lets you have access to almost the entire lake.

The temprare was still very warm and after finding some likely hot spots and a small baiting up I came to rest in my bed chair for an afternoon knap. I was tired after pulling so many big carp and with the excitement had forgotten to catch up on well earned rest. To my disapontment I was into a few Breams that day and when the evening finally came I had little hope of getting into the carp and was already considering packing up and returning back to the previous lake. Things were getting desperate so I tried a new method of hair rigging halfed boilies back to back. I ended up in my neighbours swim for a brew and a chat when in silence my Delkin started whistling to the whole lake and I ran back to hit my rod. After ten minutes I got the fish in my net. I set my headlight at and saw a broad back carp laying quietly in my landing net.  What a monster and shortly later it was confirmed at 20.2kg my second 40 on another hard water in one weeks fishing Oily Crab in high tempratures. I screamed loudly with joy and many of the lakes anglers came to my spot to have a look. This time it was a sparkling fat common.

What a week!! What a month!! What a Year with Ocean boilies

That was it for that lake as night fishing was not allowed so after that result I packed up and returned home. The next day I returned back to my big carp lake and prime swim for more action and in the remaining part of the September month I had more wonderful result on this built up swim of Oily Crab boilies and particle mix. In all I caught 25 carp and I have picked out the better fish pictures to talk and show you. Some were not taken due to the size of carp and not having a freind handy for the shots. I constantly saw carp rolling on my spots and I reduce the feed to just boilies when the weather changed this in turned brought larger carps to my net.

Below another two carps caught in September the rest are from earlier in the season on Oily Crab whole 18mm and half boilies & my particle feed mix!!

A lot of carp anglers asked me how I did that and I simply said good bait and good location.

My conclusion is hard work, much effort, a lot of time to observe the water, find the hot spots and apply good bait to get the beautiful results you deserve.  Try it!

Catch you later
